Nicole Servinis from Breakfast Television Toronto spoke to us about our new outdoor skating rink and on-leash dog-friendly walking trails, as well as the launch of our new Sixteen Lakes Kitchen & Bistro, specializing in home-cooked takeout and frozen meals.
We talked about how we had pivoted Silver Lakes in the pandemic - this starting in the summer with youth golf events and micro weddings (small, outdoor weddings) and continuing on with skating, winter walking trails, and a new takeout business.
As you may have heard, the skating and trails are FREE (online booking only), but we ask that you consider donating a small amount to one of three local charities, which were highlighted on BT - Blue Door, Inn from the Cold and Newmarket Food Pantry.
Chantal Fry, a professional figure skater and performance artist, was skating beautifully to Bolero and showing off the ice pad set in the pristine backdrop of our snowy trails.
We also had a surprise giveaway - 10 pairs of Skateez ("like training wheels for skates"), which were donated by the company to callers who were able to answer the question - Who is the Captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs?
Thank you for tuning in!! And a big thank you to BT and Nicole Servinis, Chantal at Glisse on Ice and Skateez. A shout out to the The Bentway, another outdoor ice rink, from where Nicole was broadcasting (and skating) - the Bentway was one of our sources of inspiration for our own ice pad!
