2020 Season Recap

We tried to hold out as long as the good weather lasted, but today we have made the decision to close Silver Lakes Golf for the winter.

It has been a tremendous year for golf, one of the only sports considered relatively safe to play during a pandemic, given its setting in wide-open spaces. We were happy to see not only familiar faces but also to welcome people new to the sport, especially some of our Junior golfers.

Our Fall Ball event for Juniors, in conjunction with the Golf Gives Back Canada initiative, raised money for a worthy cause and really invigorated our Junior program. Not to mention the television coverage by Breakfast Television (Citytv Toronto) in October. A special thanks to Nicole Servinis for making us the Live Eye Feature. Also a huge thanks to Cobra Golf for donating t

he Junior clubs free of charge for use by our young golfers. Please stay tuned for much more on Silver Lakes’ Junior Golf Program for 2021.

Our support for the Golf Gives Back initiative proved to be a success with Silver Lakes raising over $1000 at the Fall Ball event alone. Those who donated to Golf Gives Back via the Fall Ball were winners in the prize draw - we will announce the winners later this week!

Given the stress and pressures of this year for everyone, we tried to make this year as fun as possible. In addition to the Fall Ball, we had a Putting Competition and BBQ in August that was extremely well attended. Please join us next summer for an even bigger and better event!

We wanted to thank all of our golfers for coming out and supporting us throughout 2020. Opening and staying open was made possible by the cooperation and goodwill of our golfers and the hard work and diligence of our staff. Thank you for respecting our rules, put in place to ensure everyone’s safety – from contact tracing to staggered tee times and everything else in between.

Although the golf was a great success this year, as you may have guessed our weddings and event business was effectively shut down. To adapt, Silver Lakes launched new Micro Weddings – small, outdoor weddings with elegant picnic-boxed lunches. This was a great success so please spread the word to anyone in your life who has had to postpone their special day due to C-19 – at Silver Lakes, we can make it all happen.

Even though the golf is now closed, we are planning on hosting some winter activities that will be focussed on offering families and our local community some outdoor fun – we are hoping for festive refreshments, walking trails, possibly an outdoor skating rink! More on this to come.

Also - stay tuned for Silver Lakes Holiday Gift of Golf offer – the perfect gift for all those golfers left on your gift list!

Finally, please follow us on Facebook and Instagram so you don’t miss any important announcements!
