Fall Ball - Junior Golf Evening

Thursday, October 1st saw our first FALL BALL Junior Golf Evening at Silver Lakes – raising over $1000 for the Golf Gives Back Canada program.

FALL BALL is a new initiative aimed at introducing golf to local youngsters who may not have had the opportunity to play before. The event (which was fully booked) saw junior golfers of all abilities take part in two, 45-minute classes – with a putting competition to finish.

The golf clinics were led by Silver Lakes Director of Golf and 25-year PGA Canada Member Chris Bratten, along with our Assistant Pro Jon Kiru. The FREE TO USE Cobra Golf junior golf clubs are provided by the Golf Gives Back* Initiative in partnership with Cobra Junior Golf.

The evening was FREE to enter. However, we asked that parents/guardians make a minimum donation of $20 (per player), to the Golf Gives Back programme.

The young golfers got to try out the long clubs on our Aqua Range before moving onto the putting green for a putting clinic and the comp – all under the expert tuition of the Silver Lakes golf professionals.

Also in attendance was Joe Korman, founder of the Golf Gives Back programme. Joe is a lifelong golfer and quickly took the opportunity to coach some of the more novice players.

The 12 to 15s putting competition was won by 14-year-old Edson Cheng from North York, whilst the 7 to 11’s competition was won by 10-year-old Anthony Gonsalves from East Gwillimbury. Both players receive free passes to our Aqua Range and Putting Green throughout the 2021 season and a round of golf (accompanied by an adult of course).

We are delighted to say that our FALL BALL proved to be a resounding success, bringing people together to enjoy a lovely fall evening of sporting participation. Please check out images from the evening in our Facebook gallery.

Look out for the feature on Global TV who are covering the Golf Gives Back Program and yesterday’s Fall Ball Event.

A special mention also to Lauren Margules from the Purr Company who provided the loot bags for the young golfers.

As the golfing season comes to a close we are looking forward to 2021 with the aim of delivering more junior and grassroots golf programs. Please follow us on Facebook for updates and more!

*The Golf Gives Back Program is a fantastic initiative that is mobilising the golf community to raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, who have been especially affected by the pandemic.
