I know the Bob Seger song Turn The Page is his own song about the challenges of the road and living the hard life of a musician. But the older we each get the more we co-opt it to be an anthem for change and all those chapters that we close and move past. It's a great song for that kinda stuff.
We are moving past one now here at the Club. The Summer season is over and we have Labour Day weekend in our rearview mirror. We had those joyous, and sometimes tearful, hugging scenes here as our University and College students said their goodbyes and returned to their lives back on campus.
We'll miss them for sure. And guess what, you're gonna miss them a bit too.
If only the Canadian University system would've checked with us. We'd remind them that a late October start for school would be much more convenient to our operations and our golfers enjoyment. They never called.
So, like the baby bird kicked out of the nest to fly on its own, we are getting set to brave the balance of the year with limited staff. We'll be modifying some services and adapting some job descriptions so stick with us and maybe turn up the patience levels just a bit. The course is still great and weather is still good and we are still going to play a lot of golf here before the snow flies. But a proverbial page has been turned so keep the following few operational modifications in mind as we head into the Fall season together.
Our Bistro hours are now adjusted. We will be operating the Bistro Mon - Thur 10:00 AM thru 7:00 PM. And for Fri, Sat & Sun we are 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
Additionally, our beverage cart availability will only be on Friday and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 - 7:00.
Lastly, the only golf service modification is that we will no longer have a bag drop attendee available for the balance of the year.
That's it for now. Thanks as always for your patronage and we look forward to bringing you great golf through September and October and beyond.
Like so many service operations these days, we're pulling as much as possible from our available resources and appreciate your understanding and patience. Let's play some (more) golf!!
If I can bookend this little piece with another, much less classic, song I'll lean toward that Disney 2006 teen movie High School Musical as young soon-to-be stars Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale came together for a rather catchy tune - We're All In This Together. You can see it here - it's a toe-tapper.
We'll see you here at Silver Lakes soon.
